about jerry maniscalCo:
A Jackson Mississippi native, Jerry Maniscalco’s interest in music can be traced back to his participation in musical theater during high school. At 16, during a session at summer camp he experimented a little with the guitar and realized the potential to enhance his vocal performance with musical accompaniment. His father taught him a few chords from The Beatles’ Abbey Road, and from that moment forward, Jerry has been endlessly singing original lyrics and strumming his acoustic guitar.
Jerry always wanted to fly, so in 2003 he joined the United States Naval Academy. After graduation from the Naval Academy in 2007 Jerry completed three separate deployments as an SH-60B Seahawk pilot. During his time in the military, he found music allowed him to unwind and escape at the end of the day.
Greatly inspired by the sounds of Dave Matthews and John Mayer, Jerry’s music blends folk rock with bluegrass. As an accomplished vocalist, his singing experience ranges from opera to a cappella, and he was a member of the United States Naval Academy Men’s Glee Club. A returning artist to Operation Encore, Jerry's new song “Waiting" was inspired by loss, as he reflected on a tragic string of helicopter accidents and the impact they had on families. Jerry is currently stationed in the Middle East.
